Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the pain down.
Hands-on techniques calm the irritated joint and take the edge off inflammation, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
The pinch getting out of the car. The hip pain that’s quietly started changing the way you walk. You’re the one who gets down on the floor for the grandkids and back up before anyone notices what it cost you, which is exactly why you’re reading this now. It’s fixable, and it starts with a root-cause evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Your hip doesn’t start pinching for no reason. And it’s almost never just one thing. It’s usually some mix of four culprits: an irritated hip joint or the tissue around it. Tight hip flexors from hours of sitting that pull on the front of the joint. Glute muscles that quietly weakened and stopped supporting your pelvis. And daily habits, how you sit, stand, and walk, that keep reloading the same spot before it heals.
None of that shows up on a quick glance. It takes a real, root-cause evaluation to sort out which one is actually driving your pain. That’s why rest or a generic stretching sheet so often falls short: they treat the symptom, not the source. Find the real cause, and the fix gets obvious.
The Honest Truth
The longer a hip changes the way you walk, the more of you it takes down with it. Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for a hip.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques calm the irritated joint and take the edge off inflammation, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work restores motion in the stiff hip capsule and surrounding muscles that have been guarding the joint.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive glute and hip strengthening rebuilds the support your pelvis was missing in the first place.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Walking, squatting, and stair mechanics get tested under real load before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
Dr. Jack Wong at Next Level Physical Therapy was wonderful. He immediately took care of my pain. The next step was setting a goal to deal with strengthening my muscles and how to be consistent with doing so. I recommend anyone who has problems with constant pain to come see him.

Questions, Answered
Usually not, and it’s rarely the first step. Most hip pain improves without imaging, and studies consistently find joint changes on scans of hips with zero pain at all, so imaging doesn’t always point to the real cause. We start with a hands-on evaluation to find what’s actually driving your symptoms, and if imaging ever becomes genuinely necessary, we’ll help you get it. You don’t have to wait on a scan to start feeling better.
Yes, in most cases movement helps more than rest does. Hurt doesn’t always mean harm, total rest tends to make a hip stiffer and weaker, which sets up the next flare-up. The key is dosing the right movement for your specific hip, which is exactly what a Doctor of PT sorts out at your evaluation, then progresses safely as you improve.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. A full plan for hip pain runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 8–10 weeks, depending on how long you’ve been dealing with it. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
