Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the pain down.
Hands-on techniques calm the irritated muscles and joints at the base of your skull, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
The headache that starts at the base of your skull and ends your afternoon. The stiffness that makes you turn your whole body instead of just your head. You’re the one who pushes through it because the meeting, the kids, the deadline can’t wait, which is exactly why you’re reading this instead of resting. It’s fixable, and it starts with a root-cause evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Your neck doesn’t get stiff for no reason. And a headache that starts there is almost never just one thing. It’s usually some mix of four culprits: a forward head posture that puts extra load on the joints at the base of your skull. Tight upper trap and neck muscles that refer pain straight up into your head. Stiff joints in the neck that stopped moving the way they should. And daily habits, hours at a screen, phone tucked to your ear, that keep reloading the same spot before it settles down.
None of that shows up on a quick glance. It takes a real, root-cause evaluation to sort out which one is actually driving your headaches. That’s why an over-the-counter pain reliever or a generic stretching sheet so often falls short: they treat the symptom, not the source. Find the real cause, and the fix gets obvious.
The Honest Truth
Every headache you push through today is practice for the one tomorrow. Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for neck pain and headaches.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques calm the irritated muscles and joints at the base of your skull, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work restores motion in the stiff neck segments that have been quietly guarding the irritation.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive neck and upper back strengthening builds the postural support your neck was missing in the first place.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Desk setup, posture, and daily habits get tested under real conditions before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
I love the approach Dr. Wong takes to help us regain strength and movement. Dr. Wong doesn’t just treat one problem area, he treats the body as one unit working together as a whole. Dr. Wong puts out a vibe that makes you feel he truly cares about each person he works with.

Questions, Answered
Often, yes. Stiff joints and tight muscles in the upper neck can refer pain straight up into the head, a pattern known as a cervicogenic headache. It gets missed a lot because the pain shows up above the neck, not in it. We start with a hands-on evaluation to find whether your neck is the driver, and if it is, treating the neck is often what finally moves the headache.
Yes, in most cases you don’t need to take time off work to fix this. We’ll look at your desk setup and daily habits as part of the plan, and the exercises are built to fit around a work day, not compete with it. A Doctor of PT will dose the right movement for your neck at your evaluation, then adjust as you improve.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. A full plan for neck pain and headaches runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 8–10 weeks, depending on how long you’ve been dealing with it. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
